"Billy," Tommy says, his voice utterly serious. Don't mistake him for anything but the truth here. "What makes you happy is good in my books."

Does anything else matter? Geez, it's just like that. Don't make it weird or complicated. He just doesn't want to know about your sex life. You're his family. The closest family he fucking has. It makes it weird.

Billy's features soften, and he fiddles with the chain of his necklace. "...he makes me happy," he confirms with a shy smile.

And of course Tommy doesn't want to know about Billy's sex life while literally following it up with talking about his own. Billy snorts in amusement.

"I'm sure you're great. But I don't think you're a slut either. Just 'cause I end up marrying the first guy I ever date doesn't mean that's the norm." Besides, if Tommy wants to talk about who gets around in their family, Billy's pretty sure Magneto, Wanda & Pietro have him beat.

No. Tommy probably has Wanda and Pietro beat. Different generation, less shame, and more desperate need to feel loved.

"If you're happy I approve. Just know I can't shovel talk this one. If he breaks your heart you gotta break him on your own."

He laughs, "I'm glad, I don't think a shovel talk would go that well." And Billy can handle himself. Not that he thinks Soldier would ever purposefully hurt him.

One doesn't have to be purposeful in hurting to do serious damage. Not in Tommy's experience.

"Anyway," he says, sighing dramatically. "I should let you get back to your... whatever you call him."

"Soldier," Billy says with a flush, nodding and pushing to his feet. He'll settle on what their label is later. "I'm sorry I wasn't...exactly what you were hoping for."

Tommy reaches out to grip Billy's arm and squeeze it in what he hopes is a comforting way.

"You're family. You're always what I was hoping for. Whether you agree with me or not, whether you can solve my problems or not, you are always what I am hoping for."

"I always miss you too."
