    Canon Character Section:
    History:

We don't just act like Avengers anymore...we are Avengers

    Personality:
At his heart Billy is a pretty sweet and caring nerd, but despite a pretty amazing home life he carries a lot of baggage.

Until he was sixteen his biggest trouble was fitting in. To paraphrase his own thoughts on the matter- 'he didn't have a problem with being different from other people, it was other people who had the problem with him'. As a young gay teenager Billy was often the target of the bullies at his school. It was only after meeting his favourite Avenger (and creator/mother) that he found the courage to stand up for himself. Unfortunately that's when his powers seemed to appear and he nearly killed the boy. That becomes something of a running theme through Billy's life, acting with the best of intentions only to make things worse for himself and the people around him.

He gets very attached to things, bordering on obsessive. Often it's harmless, like his love of comics, superheroes and particularly the Avengers. But sometimes it grows to big, like his quest to find his 'mother' after learning he might be hers, or trying to bring Teddy's mother back to life to 'fix' things (an act that was unknowingly set in motion by Loki).

The Kaplan's are one of the nicest most picturesque families in Marvel, both very accepting and knowledgeable. They mistake Billy trying to tell them he's a superhero as him coming out, and assure him they knew all ready and loved him, and welcomed Teddy to the family. Even his younger brothers (who are never actually seen or named) seem to make for quite the perfect family. So when Billy found out that he might really be the son/reincarnated son of the Scarlet Witch it might seem strange just how obsessed with finding her he became. In the original outline for Billy's character it was intended to be revealed that Billy was adopted. While this seems to have changed and it is (magically) the true biological child of the Kaplan's, his behavior still very much matches that of a young person who has learned they are adopted. He has this deep desire and longing to know where he's from and connect to his past. If the current theory of soul migration is true then his soul might hold some memories of his previous life and add to the push to find his mother.

He's suffered from pretty severe depression and suicidal tendencies a few times through out the series. After Cassie and Jonas (the Vision v.2) were killed in their quest to find the Scarlet Witch Billy withdrew into himself, plagued by guilt. He hardly seemed to leave the house, shave or change his clothes for months, and it was finally Teddy who was able to draw him out of it. Later out of guilt following a fight with Teddy, and being reminded that he's 'all he has' he tried to bring Teddy's mother back to life (this was in fact influenced by kid Loki, though this is something Billy has no knowledge of). In doing so he brought a terrible foe into their lives. Loki mentions the spell might stop if Billy were to...stop living, and Billy seems to consider it before the other team mates immediately dismiss the idea. It stuck with Billy though and twice he wound up holding a gun to his head, ready to take his life. He also expressed an on going issue of self hatred, internally chanting '“I wish I was someone better' while holding the gun to his head, and quoting it as '…the one spell that never works.' He really desperately wants to be this good person that's he's been trying to be.

He also suffers from a lot of guilt knowing that many if not all of his friends have suffered more than him, particularly Teddy, and his depression tends to keep him from offering the support he feels he should. When Teddy tells him he's leaving because he needs space and time to examine his feelings for Billy, suspecting they may have been magically forced, Billy understands that fear all too well and doesn't object.

When captured by the Warden of the Cube Billy clung desperately to the Avengers code of 'Avengers don't kill'. He was forced to watch the Warden vivisect Teddy while taunting him, unable to use his magic but still trying desperately to stop him. The Warden egged him up to the point where right before their rescue Billy changed his spell attempts from 'I want him to sleep' to 'I want him to DIE'. He quickly denies that he really intended to kill him, but when it comes to Teddy Billy is fiercely protective. He knocks out nearly a whole city block and puts a large number of terrorists into comas without speaking a word, all to protect Teddy.

This causes the Avengers to deem him possibly dangerous, and the X-Men (Wolverine in particular) to deem him Wanda level dangerous and in need of being put down. For the first time Billy's heroes are able to do wrong in his eyes, and Billy refuses to cooperate. While all side are bent on capturing or killing Wanda Billy is determined to prove her innocent and calls the rest of them hypocrites, as nearly all of them had been possessed or otherwise made to do horrible things in their careers as heroes.

If he believes something strongly enough he will stand even against the people he idolizes. And yet once the issue is solved the incident doesn't colour his future interactions with the Avengers. He still goes to them in times of trouble, fights by their side, and is proud to be called an Avenger.

In his lighter moods, or in attempts to cover his darker moods, Billy is good at throwing around quips and jokes even in battle, helping to keep spirits light, following in the tradition of many great heroes in the Marvel universe.

Following his depression he swore off hero-ing, and thought his team mates had done like wise. In his mind their powers (his powers) had only served to make things worse, to get people killed. It was a swift and abrupt change for him, born of guilt and self involvement in a difficult time. When he learns that Teddy had still sneaking out to hero behind his back (as he sees it) he feels hurt and betrayed. He lashes out, anger that really probably should have been directed inward instead falling on Teddy. He does eventually come to realize that he can't hide from his powers, and begrudgingly resumes his costumed identity, but his relationship with that side of himself is still strained. He doesn't feel like a hero.

During their travels through the Multi-verse they have seen wonderful and horrible things. So many worlds brought to destruction, so many versions of themselves that were horrible, evil things. He knows these are different worlds, but the possibility that he could be capable of the same evils terrifies Billy and weighs on him heavily. When Teddy suspects that Billy had made him love him, or worse- made him up entirely- it leaves Billy to wonder if he is all ready that person and just doesn't know it.

He also learns that he is destined to become the Demiurge, a being of immense power who rewrites the laws of magic. He doesn't know much else about it yet, but that knowledge alone is very daunting, especially to someone who feels like he has very little control over his life right now. To govern all magic isn't something he's remotely ready for.

The moment he's arriving from is a rather tense one, and will be very confusing for Billy. He's in the middle of fight Mother, the final battle, and trying to save Teddy. He's attempted to access his Demiurge powers and both he and Mother are locked in fight that seems to be leaning to Mother. Inside he's alone in a white space, sitting in a circle which Mother has been trying to lure him out of with all sorts of tricks and threats. Before Teddy can arrive to give Billy the final push he needs to defeat her Billy will wake in Teleios. He will likely think this is a more elaborate trick of Mother, or that America Chavez has ported them to another verse. Mission left unfinished and Teddy not saved, Billy will likely be quite distressed, but- with Kate here, and from a time after the completion of the series, she should be able to reassure him.

Kate, despite having no powers, has always seemed like a hero to Billy. She's their leader and one of his closest friends as part of the original team. She wasn't around much during Billy's initial depression, but may prove to be a good resource as the voice of reason, pushing Billy to actually seek help instead of just to be happy.

The Loki that is here isn't the one he knows, but given his familiarity with that one, and with the multi-verse he will likely be curious (and wary) of him. His relationship with his own Loki was complicated, Loki acting as magical tutor and nearly earning his trust on multiple occasions. At the same time he was manipulating Billy, seeking to steal or control his powers, and while Billy's distrust strengthens over time, he would still consider Loki a friend despite his betrayals.

Given the multi-verse hopping the group had been doing he's actually well suited to hearing about Teleios and it won't take much convincing to believe. The loss of his powers will be strange, but good for him probably, giving him some time to live like a normal person. As much as he doubts his powers right now, he will miss them when they are gone and it may repair some of the doubts he has about himself and his abilities.

Also, he may have some very initial distrust of adults, particularly Avengers, as Mother used her magic to turn adults/their parents against them, unable to hear the truth. Teleios should be well outside of her influence though, and this fear should be short lived.

    Powers/Abilities:

Billy may or may not be a mutant. This has never been confirmed and given current goings on with Wanda and Pietro it is looking like he is not. However, many places currently list him as an electrokinetic mutant AND a mage.

Billy is not yet but one day will potentially be the Demiurge. This is a being of untold magical ability, one who rewrites the rules and very fabric of magic past, present and future.

Currently, he is a very powerful but very inexperienced magic user. He has access to powers he can scarcely being to control yet, and has only recently begun training with another magic user (Loki) to gain proper control over them.

His powers are chaos magic, fueled by desire. In an effort to focus his spells Billy learned by speaking them allowed, chanting and listening to his voice. Therefore most of his powers are tied to whether or not he can speak/hear himself speak, and in the past he has been rendered unable to use his powers by muting him, or modifying his hearing. His powers are also subject to psychological tampering, Doom was able to cast a spell that made Billy believe what Doom told him, and when he believed he had taken away his powers he was unable to use them. Also, when he doesn't truly want an outcome it is difficult or impossible to cast the spell, such as healing someone he is mad at.

There are several abilities Billy can manage without chanting or hearing his voice. These include:
-flight (self propelled, or enchantment of others)
-magic disks (support team of people in flight)
-clothing changes for both himself and team mates
    -lightening projection
-glamors (took on appearance of Wanda, and police)
-room glamors (enchanted holding room of Avengers Mansion to be less foreboding and more like a hotel)

Otherwise, Billy needs to chant his intentions aloud, seeing the result in his mind. Past spells were usually phrased as 'Iwant_______Iwant_______Iwant_______', but current spells have begun to get more economical as he's learned, sometimes broken down into one word commands such as 'Elsewhere'

Some of the spells he used include:
    -teleportation spells
    -location spells
    -protection spells
    -enhancement spells
    -healing spells

His magic appears as a blue glow from his hands and eyes, and in the comic medium also colours his spells in the same blue. Many spells make him float as a result of casting. When accessing his Demiurge state his eyes, words and magic become a much darker blue, coloured with stars and galaxies. With more powerful spells he is often encircled by either a decagram, or pentacle, glowing in the same colour as his magic.

From his current canon point much of his power is tied up in the spell that allowed him to bring Mother into their world. Until the spell is ended trying to do anything too taxing magically makes Billy increasingly unwell. His limits have stretched considerably since he started training with Loki, but it is still an issue. [If/when Billy gets his powers back would this still be in effect?]

Other than magic, Billy is a pretty average teenager in most things. He's not really a fighter or trained in weaponry, though he might know a few things from his team mates.

Encyclopedic knowledge of super heroes/villains and Norse mythology may actually count as a super power because honestly its a little uncanny.

    Appearance:
    1 | 2 | 3 | 4

Billy has dark hair and brown eyes (which differ from the rest of the Maximoff line who all have blue or green). Recently he got a piercing on his right ear and wear a small golden ring. His current costume is a red hooded cloak, and full body suit, grey with side panels that show ever changing stars and galaxies. This costume also seems to have hidden pockets somewhere as Billy pulled a cellphone from it at one point.

His pb is Vini Uehara (3/4) who I believe to have been the most recent reference model in creating Billy's look.

[Billy sits in the circle, struggling to maintain both it and his grip on reality. Loki stands in front of him, only its not Loki, it's Mother, and Billy tries to ignore it.]

You really don't have brain in that pretty head of yours, do you Kaplan? You know I was working with her all along. You gave me everything I wanted, just like I knew you would.

    [Billy's eyes flit upwards.]
    You're not him.

[The Loki smiles, showing too many teeth.]
Does that matter if you know its true? You caused all of this. You brought her here and she's going to suck your world dry.

[He knows what she wants. She wants him to leave the circle. So long as he's in there he's safe, but with every passing second he wants to leave its safety to shut Loki up.]
I might have caused it, but I'm going to fix it. You're not going to hurt any more people.

    [It snorts and choos sarcastically.]
But Billy, I'm not the one who hurt them.

[Billy lowers his head and closes his eyes, tying to block it out.]
    Iwantyoutogoaway. Iwantyoutogoaway. Iwantyoutogoaway.

Why are you always pushing me away, Billy?

[Billy tenses. He knows that voice. That's not Loki any more. He looks up briefly to see his worries confirmed. Teddy.]

    I didn't. I- I didn't mean to. You're not him.

[The Teddy looks hurt and the look cuts Billy to his core.]
I saw my mother die, Billy. Right in front of me. And all I do is take care of you. You have have two families and I don't even have one, and you cry about how you got Cassie and Jonas killed like the rest of us don't miss her too.

[Billy shakes his head, blinking away a sudden burning his eyes.]

N-no I- I know. I know. I'm trying to be better. I'm going to be better. I'm going to fix this, Teddy.

[He closes his eyes tight and opens them again to see an expanse of white. No Teddy. He's talking to himself. Probably a better weapon than anything Mother has to use against him.

He tugs his hood up, determined.
    ]
    I'm going to fix this.

Kate had told him they'd beaten Mother. Teddy was fine, the adults had no idea what they'd done. All was forgiven and right with the world back home, and no one here had shown any signs of turning into a globby mess and attacking them. And some how Billy was still apprehensive.

He held a finger up before Cap could speak, a motion that in itself was too horrifying to even consider (who shushed Captain America?!), but he needed to make sure he didn't say anything before Billy had spoken. The spell was tied to him, and he couldn't be sure it wouldn't effect the adults in Teleios even with all of Kate's reassuring.

"Question. If I told you there was an inter-dimensional parasite who wanted to take over earth and/or feast on my powers and she had taken over my parents what would you say?" he asked in a rush, trying very hard to convey the seriousness of that ridiculous question in his face.

Cap blinked at him, and for a moment Billy was afraid it would be like before, when he'd gone to the Avengers only to have them drag him back home to Mother's waiting hands. His features twisted, ready to hear Cap explain it was all some misunderstanding, and tell him again how it wasn't the end of the world (even though it was very much literally the end of the world if they didn't stop her).

Instead, Cap questioned where the parasite had come from, and how long it had had his parents, and a weight Billy didn't know he'd been carrying lifted in relief. He would take all the groundings and reprimands in the world, he could go home again. Well- not exactly. He seemed to be stuck in this place, but there was no more running. Adults could be counted on again, and Billy wasn't nearly in so much of a hurry to be considered one. In fact, right now he just wanted to see his parents. But he'd settle for knowing that Kate was right and they were safe. For now.
