"I still say friendly fire should mean he has to help me get this stuff off," Billy grumbled, struggling to unstick his hand from his costume.

"God this stuff is strong. Could you imagine the other sorts of things he could use this for?" he noted with a teasing grin towards David, though he quickly lost his nerve again, turning to hide a blush, "Is there any in my hair? I feel like it's everywhere"

It's not the first time he's tried to casually drop it into conversation. He's interested, but he's really not sure how...'out there' of an idea it might be to David, and while he knows that just bringing it up like adults would be the easiest way to handle things, it's so hard to actually get there.

"...You ever think about that sorta stuff?"

Team ups with older heroes are always a mess. If it isn’t ninjas with Daredevil it’s something magical with strange or it’s something like this. Something like Billy and Spider-Man being shit at communicating in the field and David ultimately having to cut Billy down after things were dealt with.

At least Billy was still useful all caught in webbing, even a free mouth.

“I don’t need to imagine, Billy. I can derive more than a few practical applications. And the fact that the chemical signature of it fosters relatively quick breakdown when oxygenated is a pretty impressive bit of science.”

David tries not to think about the sex lives of powered people he has met if he doesn’t already know what they are like. So the teasing doesn’t amuse him as much. What does is how cute Billy looks with webbing in his hair, which David reaches out to pluck free.

“You could magic this all off.”

"I mean, I could, but then I wouldn't get to complain as much. Would you really deprive me of that?" he teases, turning to offer an appreciative kiss to the corner of David's mouth.

"And I wasn't thinking practical so much as...recreational," he corrects, barely able to get through that word without giving a flustered laugh, "I dunno. You don't ever think about that sort of stuff?"

Recreational. Ah. David tilts his head as he regards Billy, that flustered laugh and the way he holds himself with tension in his shoulders. Something is up here. There are multiple answers to why though.

He might well have to play out a line for a bit to get any information.

“Usually not. I have enough knowledge of recreational power and tech use from people I know well to want to speculate on those I don’t.”

God, Billy wants to melt into the ground, and he curses his awkward self, sure he's just made this 1000x harder on himself by dancing around the subject.

"I mean more like...for yourself. Not what other people have done, necessarily. Do you think that's something you would ever want to...do? Hypothetically?"

Oh more than a thousand times harder. Because Billy is just being excessively silly.

He took a deep breath and crossed his arms over his chest.

“Are you seriously asking me if I’ve ever wanted Spider-Man to web me up and ravish me? Hard pass. There is such a thing as too much spandex.”

"N- god not Spider-Man. I- have you ever- forget the Spider-Man part. I just...I dunno, I'd been thinking about it maybe, and was wondering if you ever had. Tying people or...all of that stuff?"

Could the Earth seriously just swallow him up now? Could he possibly have made that more awkward?

Ah, then it was what he had expected it to be. David raised a single eyebrow at the question.

“Is this you asking me to tie you up? Because I need you to be a bit clearer in your questions, Billy. If it’s simply whether I’ve thought of it, yes. More than a few X-Men have that as a kink, and so it’s something built up in my head. So whether I mean it to or not the knowledge bubbles up from time to time. But that isn’t what you’re asking.”

"I, uh...yeah?" Billy fumbles, and nodding, trying to push aside his damn awkwardness and ask properly.

"It's me asking if that'd be something you might...be into? Actually into, not just...something that lives in your head. I might of watched some stuff, and I've kind of been...thinking about it lately? But I wasn't sure if you'd be into that or not."

Watched some stuff and thought of him? David can’t help how flattering that is to hear. He tries not to let it show because one of them has to be the confident and composed one in this moment and it clearly isn’t going to be Billy with his pauses and stammering.

“Frankly, I don’t know. I’ve never tried it. And prying apart what others have given me from what is me on a deeper level is never easy. Which isn’t to say that experimentation isn’t the heart of learning. It’s right there, in the scientific method and everything.”

"Well, thinking about it now...How do you feel?" he flushes, never quite sure how best to help determine what's purely David. He knows how complicated that can be for him, and he doesn't want to push forward on something David's not into. "I need to shower- clearly, but uh-...maybe after would you wanna...play around with that at all?"

Well that was interesting to suggest. David smiled and nodded.

"You'll have to tell me just what sort of bondage you're looking for, though. There are more than one."
